BharatIQ Privacy Policy

BharatIQ helps you get government tasks done. Trust is our core value, so this page explains in plain language what we collect, who processes it, how long we keep it, and how you can delete it.

Who runs BharatIQ

BharatIQ is operated by Arun Benchamin, an independent developer based in Kerala, India. BharatIQ is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any government department or public authority. For any privacy question or request, email info@bharatiq.app — we aim to reply within 30 days.

Your account and profile

If you create an account we store your name, email address and a securely hashed password (we cannot see the password itself). You may optionally add profile details — state, district, age range, occupation, income range and preferred language. These are used only to personalise the assistant's answers and are never shown publicly. You can use the assistant without an account.

Assistant conversations

If you are signed in, your conversations are saved to your account so you can return to them; you can delete any conversation at any time, and deleting your account removes them all. If you use BharatIQ without an account, your conversation is not saved to a BharatIQ account or kept as history — but it is still processed as described here. To generate an answer, your message text and relevant profile details (such as state and language) are sent to a third-party AI provider that processes them on our behalf under its own terms; the provider may retain the request briefly for security and abuse-prevention. Separately, we keep an anonymous record of questions asked — truncated text with state and language, never your name, account, or IP address — for up to 90 days to find gaps in our knowledge base.

Please do not send sensitive details

BharatIQ never needs your Aadhaar number, passport number, bank or card details, PIN, OTP or passwords. Please do not type them into the assistant. Describe your situation in general terms — that is all the assistant needs to guide you, and you should enter personal identifiers only on the official government portal itself.

Voice input (mobile app)

The BharatIQ mobile app can let you speak your question instead of typing. When you tap the microphone, your speech is converted to text by your phone's own speech-recognition service (provided by Google on Android or Apple on iOS), which operates under that provider's terms. BharatIQ only receives the resulting text, which is then handled exactly like a typed question. The microphone is used only while you are actively recording, and you can deny or revoke the permission at any time in your device settings. The app can also read answers aloud: this normally uses your phone's own voice, but for natural Malayalam it may send the answer text (never your identity) to a cloud voice provider (Google) to generate the audio.

Service comments

You may share an experience on a service page with or without an account. The name you enter (or your account name) is published together with your comment, but only after an administrator reviews and approves it — nothing appears publicly automatically. Please do not include personal details in a comment. You can ask us to remove a comment at any time by email.

Cookies and analytics

We use three cookies of our own: your sign-in session, your language choice, and your selected state. We also use Google Analytics to understand overall usage. Analytics collects limited technical and usage information such as pages viewed, interactions, browser and device type, and approximate region, and Google processes it under its own privacy policy. Its cookies are not used for advertising, and we do not send it your name, email address, or the questions you ask the assistant.

Who else processes your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share only what is necessary with service providers that help us run BharatIQ: a third-party AI provider (message text and relevant profile details, to generate answers), our hosting provider (where the server and database run), and Google Analytics (usage statistics). We may also disclose information if required by law or to investigate abuse or a security incident.

How long we keep information

Account and profile details: until you delete your account. Saved conversations: until you delete them, or until you delete your account. Comments: approved comments stay published until you ask us to remove them; comments linked to your account are deleted with it. Anonymous question records: 90 days, then deleted automatically. Encrypted database backups: 14 days, after which deleted information disappears from backups too. Server and security logs: up to 30 days.

How we protect your information

All traffic to BharatIQ is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing (scrypt with a unique salt), so nobody — including us — can read them. Sign-in sessions use signed, HTTP-only cookies. Administrative access to the server and database is restricted, and backups are stored securely. No online service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password and keep access to your email account protected.

Children

BharatIQ is intended for adults dealing with government services and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a person under 18 has created an account or provided information, email info@bharatiq.app and we will review and delete it.

What we never do

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising — BharatIQ shows no third-party ads. Our anonymous question records are never linked to your name, email, account or IP address. Conversations saved by signed-in users are, by design, linked to their account so they can view their own history. Nothing you write in a comment is published until an administrator has reviewed and approved it.

Your choices and how to delete your data

You can use the assistant without an account, and edit or clear your profile at any time. To delete everything: sign in and go to My profile → Delete account — your account, profile and saved conversations are then removed from our active systems straight away; residual copies clear from encrypted backups within 14 days. If you no longer have the app installed or cannot sign in, request deletion at bharatiq.app/delete-account or email info@bharatiq.app from your registered address, and we will complete it within 30 days. You may also ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, or to correct it.

Changes to this policy

If our features or service providers change, we will update this page and change the date below. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
